How do we become amazing hair stylists?
By starting out as apprentices.
Apprentices are the lifeblood of the hair industry, constantly bringing in a new generation of stylists who, once confident and qualified, go on to make a name for themselves in salons and styling models and celebrities on catwalks, photoshoots, film sets, for theatre productions and events across the UK and further afield. We are passionate about recruiting hair stylist apprentices and usually have two in our salons at any one time, usually at different stages of their qualifications. It is vital for each apprentice to understand how to look after their clients and manage their time as well as learning the art of cutting.
We frequently require hair models for apprentice development training and formal assessments, people willing to sit the extra time the trainees need to cut and style under supervision. Our current two apprentice stylists are completing in-salon training and assessment towards their NVQ Hairdressing Qualification.
Fancy giving hair modelling a try?
If you would like to be considered as a hair model, we’d love to hear from you. We need models for specific cuts, styling or colouring purposes, so this may not suit you if you have something very specific in mind. You don’t need to be an existing client of ours to apply and if you are under 16 you will need your parent’s permission to model for us. You must be 16 or over to have any form of hair colouring applied professionally.
As the trainees are at different stages of their qualifications, we look for models willing to sit for one of three types of service…
Simple, straight forward cut or colour
Love your current look? This service is aimed at basic trim or long layer haircuts on medium to long hair, blow-dries, all-over colours and root colours.
Any style of cut & finish, blow-dries, and any colour service including highlights, balayage, ombre and bleach
This service will work perfectly if you are looking for a great salon experience, resulting in a beautifully done, wearable cut or colour, simply taking a little longer than a qualified stylist would.
Restyles, creative haircuts, colour changes and creative or eye-catching fashion colours
This service is ideal if you are wanting something a little different, perhaps an unusual hairstyle or colour, or you just want to be inspired by our creativity!
Prices: £5 for cuts or blow-dries. £30 for colours (includes blow-dry).
Please allow up 1 hour for a cut & blow-dry, and 3-4 hours for a colour.
Although our apprentices are learning on the job, they are fully supervised at all times by a qualified and experienced hair stylist and you will experience the full McQueen salon treatment whilst you model for us.
